PASTURE RAISED RUMP STEAK

Full-Flavoured. Firm Yet Tender. Made for the Braai.

Rump Steak is one of those cuts that reminds you what good beef should taste like. It has a naturally robust beef flavour, a satisfying texture and enough character to stand confidently on its own with little more than salt, pepper and a hot fire.

Compared with Fillet, Rump has a firmer bite and more pronounced beef flavour. It is an excellent choice for customers who value flavour and want a versatile steak that performs beautifully on the braai.

At Gourmet Butcher, we select pasture-raised beef according to the same principle that guides everything we sell: if we wouldn't serve it to our own family, we won't sell it to yours.

Why You'll Love It

Full, traditional beef flavour.
Firm but tender texture when cooked correctly.
Excellent value for a premium steak.

Simple Cooking Guide

Rump responds beautifully to high heat. Bring it towards room temperature before cooking, season simply and give it a good sear.

Avoid cooking it too far beyond medium if you want to preserve its tenderness and juiciness. Most importantly, let it rest before cutting.

And when you do slice it, cut across the grain. That small detail can make a remarkable difference to tenderness.

Ray's Notebook: Rump doesn't need to pretend to be Fillet. Its strength is flavour. Give it good heat, don't overcook it, slice it properly and let the beef speak for itself.

Choosing the Right Cut

Choose Rump when you want stronger beef flavour, a satisfying bite and excellent versatility; choose Fillet when exceptional tenderness is your number-one priority.

The Gourmet Butcher Promise
